ANZARD is the Australian and New Zealand Assisted Reproduction Database and has been designed with the intention of establishing a fully electronic system for reporting outcomes of IVF treatment and the resulting pregnancies.  The data collected will be used for three purposes.

  1. The generation of the NPSU (National Perinatal Statistics Unit) annual report.  This is available for inspection in the public domain at
The NPSU report documents details of IVF cycles conducted across Australia and New Zealand including success rates for each type of treatment in a de-identified way.   Assisted Conception Australia is required to provide this data to the NPSU and you will therefore be contacted to establish the result of your treatment cycle if it is not already known to Assisted Conception Australia.  As this information is important to government agencies including Medicare, which funds many cycles it is important that everyone assists in maintaining this database.
  2. The success rates for each individual unit are collated and made available to RTAC officials and Assisted Conception Australia  at the time of inspection of the fertility unit (annually) .  This is to allow an independent external body to view the function of Assisted Conception Australia, to confirm that it is functioning at an acceptable level, and if not to recommend areas of change.
  3. The success rates of Assisted Conception Australia are made available to ACA staff at regular intervals to allow ongoing review, internal audit and ongoing improvements in quality service
