4th ACA Birthday Bash
On 22 July, Greenslopes Private Hospital’s conference room was transformed into a haze of pink balloons and cupcakes for Assisted Conception Australia’s (ACA) 4th birthday party. With all generations, from week old babies to a nonagenarian great grandfather, the party was a great success with over 50 babies, family and ACA staff attending.
A glittering fairy enchanted the children with face painting and stories and games on the magic carpet, while their parents caught up on the latest news; and nursing co-ordinators Margie and Fi enjoyed cuddling new babies, and marvelling at our first ACA babies who are nearly four!
In her speech, Dr Clare Boothroyd remarked that, “looking at all of the beautiful babies in the room made all the frustrations and lows of IVF worthwhile”. She also acknowledged the wonderful work of Margie, Fi, Clare and the rest of the ACA team - who are instrumental in ACA’s success.
After the raffle Dr Stephen Cattanach cut the birthday cake with the help of ‘superman’ Max and ‘princess’ Sofia. And after some delicious chocolate mud cake and party bags, this year’s party came to an end.
As one mum commented, in a few years we will be organising an ACA disco – but in the meantime we look forward to celebrating even more babies at the 5th ACA birthday party next year!!
