‘’Little Miracles’’ Baby Party
Fertility centre Assisted Conception Australia (ACA) celebrated its first birthday with a party for ‘’miracle babies” conceived since its launch on 25 July 2008. Held outside ACA’s custom-designed facility at Greenslopes Private Hospital, the party was an opportunity for doctors, staff and parents to meet up, swap news and celebrate new arrivals.
The party was a huge success with over 40 babies, parents, siblings, mums-to be, doctors, nurses embryologists and guests atending. Even the babies seemed bemused by the party atmosphere, cake, balloons and presents.
In her welcoming speech Medical Director Dr Clare Boothroyd said what a privilege it was to help such wonderful people on their journey to parenthood. And she hoped all the new parents would enjoy these special additions to their family. With more babies expected over the next few months, ACA staff members are also looking forward to adding more baby photos to the centre’s walls
After one year, and 70 pregnancies later, the centre is doing well, said Dr Boothroyd. ‘’Couples are coming from across Queensland, with some women falling pregnant against the odds. The Unit is also embarking on research to improve fertility treatments in the future, and is presenting a GP education session with other Greenslopes Private Hospital specialists to improve health professional’s knowledge of infertility.
